Introduction

Bad governance is one of the major hitches that overpower the peace, prosperity, and stability of a country. It does not only impede the image of a nation but also hinders socio-economic progress globally. As a matter of fact, only those nations lag that are unable to govern the country in a better way. Like other developing countries, Pakistan being no exception, is also facing the evil of bad governance. Lack of good governance has vigorously shaken the country’s roots since the demise of its founding father, Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The country has been facing the malice of illiteracy, unemployment, poverty, unaccountability, and corruption in the presence of bad governance. Moreover, failure of administration, judiciary, parliament, and the rule of law has tarnished the country’s image. Although bad governance is gnawing the roots of the country; however, there is no problem in the universe that remains unsolved. It can be solved through reforming education, creating more economic and employment opportunities, and installing a transparent accountability system. The answer will comprehensively deal with the repercussions and suggestions to eliminate bad governance.

Current Scenario

The menace of bad governance has dwindled the economic and societal fabric of the country. Currently, the successive government has failed to curb the malice of inflation, illiteracy, administration collapse, economic collapse, and nepotism. Moreover, the government has failed to deliver in health and human development sector. Energy and food crises are peaked as the administration fails to protect the food from black-marketing and illegal subsidies. Inflows of foreign assistance and international economic environment indicate bad governance.

First of all, the factor that accentuates the bad governance is the failure of administration. Not to speak of Pakistan, even the entire world, developed and developing countries, the administration failure robs the bright future of a country as well as millions of people. It weakens the institutions, the rule of law is distorted, and the economic front also shrinks. Poor administration fails to deliver the exact progress, which is required to uplift the individual’s living standers. Poor administration can be overcomed by bringing up competent people and a system of praising and accountability for their work. As it is aptly said that if men are good, the government cannot be bad.

Secondly, the failure of the judiciary is the main pillar that supports bad governance. A well-functioning judiciary is crucial for the progress of a country, and only if it is robust and transparent, it can hold the corrupt accountable. In the case of judicial failure, it brings to the society lawlessness, lack of accountability, and corruption. Judiciary plays a vital role in maintaining peace, equality, and stability in the presence of good governance. Lawlessness can be overcomed by holding an efficient and honest functioning judicial system that works properly without delaying cases so long.

Bad governance also brings the economy at grinding halt. Bad economies destroy the nations and lead them toward the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and loans from other countries on heavy interests. Pakistan is under the great pressure of foreign loans along with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the World Bank. It has failed to deliver for what purpose the loans were taken, instead of, the negligence of government the loans were not used for the welfare and development programs. The economy can be brought into its track by investing the loans wisely and granting of new projects that will last long to benefit the country in long terms.

Moreover, the inflation rate increases because of bad governance. Inflation does not only bring crimes in the society but also distort the peace. In Pakistan, the inflation rate is growing like a gigantic ball that is unable to control because of bad governance. It is the main hub of all social evils that bring the country on the verge of destruction. Poverty can be overcomed by assigning new jobs, creating more economic opportunities, and by giving loans to youth for business on feasible terms.

Critical Analysis

Lack of good governance is like an octopus that destroys institutions, state, economy, health sector, and leads towards the crisis in a country. Pakistan, with a weak basis, since its inception, is continuously facing the menace of bad governance. It is a misery that Pakistan is falling prey of inept leadership. Moreover, it also gives birth to many social evils: inflation, poverty, lawlessness, economic downfall, illiteracy, etc. Not to speak of Pakistan, any country that wants to get rid of it must ensure better education, strengthen institutions, and last but not the last expert leadership who can govern the country in its real prospect.

Conclusion

Conclusively, bad governance is a misery not only in Pakistan but also in the other countries of the world. However, it catastrophically hit the country, unlike any other social evil. It derails the progress, economy, and prosperity of the country. Dancing around the fire is not the solution; Pakistan needs appropriate governance and can perform according to the current situations.
