Classrooms undoubtedly play a constructive and curative role in strengthening the education system upon which a country’s law, moral, and political foundation standstill. Moreover, better classrooms inculcate innovative skills in the nation, enabling them to take risks and become the world’s leaders. It also forces students to comply with the standardized template and dissuades failure and a departure from the standardized average. For instance, the United States of America (USA), a nation that holds the crown of the world leader, leads the world by focusing on its classrooms. Similarly, quality classrooms create political and social awareness among the people and provide the skills to establish good governance in the country. Thus, it is a fact that the better the classrooms, the better the nation’s future; however, the situation in underdeveloped countries like Pakistan is not pleasurable. According to the Global Standings of 2016, she ranks 125 out of 130 states regarding the quality of her classrooms, making her the hub of social evils, especially the rise in unemployment and the abrupt increase in terrorism. Thus, if a nation wants to have a prosperous future and rule over the world, she has to give special focus to her classrooms.

Moreover, nothing can ensure a better future for a nation the way quality education does. And the quality of education has a direct relation with the quality of classrooms; however, there do exist certain characteristics of a quality classroom. The first characteristic in this regard is the continuous evaluation of students during the lectures by the teachers in such a comprehensive way that all the abilities of the students become known to the teacher. Secondly, assessing- the evaluation of a student after a proper period of time- and categorizing the students according to their abilities are also part of a quality classroom. Lastly, it is imperative for quality classrooms to impart the ability to critical thinking in students, and to modern research by educationists, classrooms that fail to produce the ability to critical thinking in their students are of no use in the modern world. Thus, if a state becomes able to flourish its classrooms with the abovementioned characteristics, its nation will surely produce the best ones in different professions, becoming a cause of a better future for the nation.

The question of how classrooms decide the future of a nation can be answered through a number of arguments. Moreover, the first argument in this regard is the creation of decision-making power in children. According to the world-known educationist, enabling the students to take part in the extracurricular activities, like drafting, painting, and running, of the classrooms enable them to take decisions in their practical lives. And it is clearly evident from the recent report of the United Nations Education Development Program (UNEDP) that the people of the United States of America with better classrooms have a much higher ability to take decisions in the right direction as compared to the under-developed nations. It is the reason that the better ones in different professions are the products of the USA. Thus, classrooms enable people with the power to take decisions and form a better future for the nations.

Similarly, the other characteristic of classrooms is the social and political development of a nation. Moreover, a nation learns social norms and ethics in classrooms, and when they come to professional life, they implement the learned values. For instance, in Pakistani classrooms, students do not sit unless their teacher permits them. As a result, they always give respect to their elders, which ultimately becomes a cause of prosperity for a nation. In the same way, the classrooms are politically aware of the students through the inclusion of successful politicians in their syllabi. They follow the politicians and cast votes for the politicians that serve the country to the fullest of their potential. It is, therefore, a fact that where the rate of literacy is high, there exists better democracy.

Furthermore, the economic development of a country and the quality of classrooms are directly related to one another. And it is a fact that the students of today are the labourers, engineers, doctors, and other professionals of tomorrow, and classrooms are the laboratories imparting innovative ideas, hard work, and, above all, decision-making qualities in the students because of multiple activities. According to Nelson Mandela- a freedom fighter, it is undoubtedly imperative for a country to educate its nation for economic development; similarly, the main factor behind the economic growth of China and Japan is their wholehearted attention to their students and classrooms. Thus, to develop a country economically, it is necessary to pay attention to the classrooms of the nation.

Additionally, better classrooms seem to be the only source that can reduce extremism. Capable mentors develop unbiased thinking skills in students, which builds the students to create a tolerant society. Moreover, the students of such classrooms spread all the ideas and knowledge with them, and they become free from all types of social, regional, and religious hatred due to better guidance. For instance, there are a number of people of different religions in Australia, but there is not any type of extremism, for they have much better classrooms compared to underdeveloped nations like India. In India, there occurs a rise in extremism with each passing day between Islam and Hinduism, and her classrooms stand on rank 32 worldwide. Thus, it is necessary to have quality classrooms for the reduction of extremism.

In the same manner, good classrooms provide an increase in industrial production. Moreover, they not only increase industrial production but also adopt the latest technologies. According to reliable resources, China has the largest number of vocational schools that equip its students and upcoming generation with modern technologies, and its industrial production has also been constantly increasing with each passing day. Similar is the case of Japan, which has focused on her vocational classroom, and she has now worn the crown of the world-leading economy instead of her start from zero in 1941. Thus, for higher industrial production, every state has to put a special focus on its vocational classrooms.

Additionally, classrooms impart the skills of leadership in a nation as there do occur different activities, i.e., curricular and co-curricular activities in the schools. In the co-curricular activities, a teacher designs a number of activities other than studying, like group tasks and the application of the Jigsaw method; moreover, in such activities, students- the future of a nation, learn the distribution of different tasks among the members of its groups. Apart from it, it also teaches them how to retain the confidence of other group members to remain the leader of the group. Former US President Abraham Lincoln, therefore, said, “The philosophy of the student in one generation would be the philosophy of the government in another generation.” Thus, better classrooms produce better leaders.

Similarly, better classrooms ensure basic human rights in society- a prerequisite of a prosperous nation. Moreover, teachers in classrooms make the students aware of their basic rights, like freedom of speech, the right to live, the right to equality, the right to liberty, and the right to basic health facilities. After passing through the school phase, students demand their basic rights from the government and make the government accountable for the absence of their rights. According to the United Nations Human Development Program (UNHDP), the state that has better classrooms is well equipped with basic rights, and the USA is one of the countries worldwide with the maximum number of basic human rights. She is a world leader as well. Thus, quality classrooms provide a better-developed nation.

Japan’s classrooms taking her from ashes to the world-leading economy, have become an example for the world. Moreover, according to the reports, she stood first in the education competition held under the supervision of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in 2019 out of 81 participating countries. The prominent characteristics of her classrooms include the absence of examinations and over-implied focus on students’ social and ethical behaviours in the elementary section; similarly, apart from the main subjects, they do teach calligraphy- shodō in Japanese, painting, and other arts to the students attending workshops after school timings. More importantly, it is the responsibility of the government to provide midday meals prepared under the supervision of food specialists to the students for the maintenance of their diet, and teachers do eat with them to increase interaction between the students and teachers. Above all, teachers and students, in collaboration with one another, clean classrooms, this helps the teachers to generate submissiveness and humility among the students. Thus, Japan’s classrooms act as an example worldwide.

The classrooms of the United States of America are also very productive in nature, which is clearly evident from her constant increase in Noble prize winners compared to other countries. Moreover, their teachers must have a graduation degree to be appointed as teachers, and they are paid sufficient salaries ranging from 11000 dollars to 40000 dollars a month depending upon their degrees. Apart from it, every teacher is granted an assistant to help out and let the teacher for effective teaching. On the student’s side, each student is provided books, notebooks, and all other stationery materials to pursue their studies without any hindrance, and they are not examined till class 12, but they have to take tests for taking admission to college and university. Similarly, each school provides gymnasium, playground, and swimming pools for the maintenance of the physical health of the students. They also have vocational schools with the regular schools, so they can impart certain skills, like electrician, plumber, and car painting, to students and enable them to earn their livelihood. Thus, the better the classrooms, the more developed the nation.

Finland is also marked with one of the best classrooms ever. Moreover, their students remained on the top in cracking the program of International Students Assessments- one of the toughest examinations in the world- between 2000 and 2012. In Finland, students are granted admission at the age of 7 without any particular uniform and sitting arrangement till primary level, and like the USA, a midday meal has been provided by the administration of the school to the students since 1953. Apart from it, there is no concept of homework, for each and every task of the students is completed within school hours, which enables them to learn any other skills, like wood, iron, or election work, provided by the schools for the second time. Similarly, they provide a break of fifteen minutes after each class consisting of forty-five minutes, so the students remain fresh and concentrated during the classes. Thus, the better classrooms of Finland, despite its very small state, have enabled it to become an example for other countries.

In contrast to the abovementioned classrooms, classrooms in Pakistan paint a gloomy picture. Students are working hard, but due to certain drawbacks in classrooms, none is able to put a mark on the globe. Moreover, grading and evaluation have become from class one a serious issue causing fair and a decrease in the number of students. Similarly, no refreshment, neither to the students nor to the teachers, is provided at schools, and only a break of fifteen minutes is granted during the six hours of learning. Teachers are paid a very miserable amount of salary, due to which they remain in tension for the whole month; furthermore, according to the report of the United Nations, more than 60% of classrooms in Pakistan do not have audio-visual aids, the core component of a classroom. And its results are obvious, making Pakistan the hub of social evils like unemployment, economic crises, and underdevelopment.

After analyzing the importance of classrooms and their better results in developed nations, it is pretty sure that each and every nation has put all its efforts into the development of classrooms. However, it becomes impossible for some nations, like Pakistan, for she has to defend her country from their rival neighbours, like India. India is constantly destabilizing through terrorist attacks that have destroyed the economy of Pakistan, which in turn requires an increase in its defence budget to counter the attacks. Although classroom development is necessary, due to other ever-increasing issues social issues, underdeveloped nations remain to fail to upgrade them.

To conclude, classrooms have become the backbone of a nation in the contemporary world. They not only create decision taking power in the students but also develop nations politically and socially. They reduce corruption, along with the reduction of extremism, as evident from Japan and other developed nations, which mainly include USA and Finland. In contrast, the classrooms of the underdeveloped nation Pakistan paint a gloomy picture in terms of the development of the country.
