The world has become dynamic in nature. There is, surely, no match of technology of the existing world. It has become possible to control the devices even you are far away from them, and it has become possible only through the remote sensing techniques, which have entered the world into the new phase.
The answer is yes. Science has introduced unique technologies through, which we can control the devices even at a distance. This surprising technique is called the remote sensing technique. There are two types of remote sensing as well. The first type is Active Sensor, a sensor that uses its own light to observe the data taken by the reflection of light. The second type is the Passive Sensor, the sensor which uses the light of the sun for the collection of data. Both types have their own benefits because we use passive sensors in the daytime and active sensors at night. The use of remote sensing techniques helps in the understanding of the structure of the earth, in intelligence to get the clue of an enemy, and for many other purposes. Moreover, the principle of this technique is being used in many other technologies, which have made our life easier and comfortable.
All people are habitual of using a global positioning system (GPS). GPS is a well-known name and every person who uses a mobile phone has seen its option on their mobile phones. The principle of GPS is very simple to understand. GPS is a system of 24 satellites. This constellation- a group of satellites- completes its rotation in 12 hours around the earth. There are atomic clocks that are fixed in the satellites. The atomic clocks give perfect and accurate time without any error. Moreover, there is a receiver of GPS satellites in our cell phones, interestingly. The radiations are received by the receiver of GPS. If the receiver receives the signals from three satellites, then the receiver can only tell you about your position. But, when the signals from four satellites are received then it can tell you time as well, along with the position. It is clear that GPS is working on remote sensing techniques. It facilitates not only intelligence but is also available to the common man. Intelligence agencies use it to trap criminals at any time. Common people can use it to reach to destination without delaying time. They can reach the desired place within no time. Consequently, GPS has further mobilized the world by enhancing the facilities. But physicists are still working on it, to prove its navigation quality to prevent the people from any difficulty.
Remote sensing has reached man into oceans. Man has been enabled to penetrate the ocean and can explore the world of the ocean. God has gifted humans with a lot of resources, man has only to suck out them. In the oceans, an astonishing world is welcoming man. Hence, man has taken benefit of it through remote sensing techniques. A remote sensing technique that is used to tear the layers of the oceans is Sound Navigation and Ranging (SONAR). In this technique, sound waves are used to navigate the ocean. The penetrating ability of sound waves is greater than other radiations in the water. The sound waves travel into the water and reflect and are received by the receiver. The pattern obtained tells a lot about the ocean. The reflection pattern can tell us the structure of the ocean. The rocks, minerals, and other objects in the ocean have different reflection patterns. Moreover, during the war, through this technique, the ship of the enemy can easily be navigated. The distance of the enemy ship can easily be measured out. The sound waves strike with the ship and after reflection, it is received on the receiver. The distance between the transmitted wave and the reflecting wave can show the distance of the enemy ship. As a result, remote sensing techniques have also taken us to the exploration of the world of the ocean. Radio Detection and Ranging (RADAR) is one of the most significant inventions of humans. It has enabled man to strengthen his control in the sky. RADAR also works on the principle of remote sensing techniques. Radio waves are the supplier of information in this technique. SONAR and RADAR are similar in principle but different in nature of waves. Radio waves are electromagnetic waves, which require no medium to propagate. On the other hand, sound waves are mechanical waves, which require a medium to propagate. In RADAR, radio waves strike with the target, reflect back, and are received on the receiver. We use radio waves instead of other electromagnetic waves because their propagation ability is greater than other waves and less affected by the weather change. Therefore, it can be used to detect the enemy plane if entering into the sovereignty of any country. Furthermore, it is very imperative in tracking the planes if they are in danger. Through this technique, immediate aid can be provided to them. To sum up, remote sensing techniques have enabled humans not only to penetrate into the layers of the ocean but also to the blanket of air.
