Howfiv EDS Glossary of Scientific Terms by Miss Nirmal Hasni are following

1. Absolute zero:
Absolute zero is a theoretical temperature at which any thermodynamic system will have the lowest possible energy. The vibrational motion of subatomic particles is minimum at this temperature. It is the lowest temperature on the kelvin scale, i.e. it equals 0 kelvin. On the Celsius scale absolute zero is equal to -273.15 C and on the Fahrenheit scale it is equal to -459.67 F.
2. Abzyme:
The word abzyme has been derived from two words i.e. antibody and enzyme. An abzyme  catalyzes reactions by lowering the activation energy and stabilizing the transition stage of reactions. It is also called catalytic monoclonal antibody or catmab.
3. Acceleration:
Acceleration is the rate at which the velocity of an 6object changes over a given period of time.
4. Achondrite:
Achrondrites are stony meteorites which lack the grain like structures called chondrules. Absence of these chondrules suggests that these meteorites are not formed in the solar nebula. Contrary to the chrondites these meteorites are formed on other planetary bodies.
5. Agarose Gel electrophoresis:
Electrophoresis is a process used in biochemistry and other fields related to molecular biology to separate the macromolecules such as DNA, RNA and proteins. In this method the molecules are separated by passing a current through a gel in which the respective molecules are present. Agarose is a polysaccharide gel which is commonly used in this method. Therefore, it is called agarose gel electrophoresis.
6. Allele:
Allele is one of the variants that a gene may have. Some genes have one or more than one variants which are present on the same site or genetic locus on a particular chromosome. Alleles occur in pairs, each of which is inherited from one parent. Common example of alleles is the ABO blood group system in human brings which is controlled by a gene called ABO and this gene has 6 variants.
7. Alternative mRNA splicing:
DNA sends the message for synthesis of particular proteins through mRNA. Splicing is a process which naturally occurs in eukaryotes when pre-mRNA is translated into mature mRNA. Introns i.e. the non coding parts of mRNA are spliced and the cap and tail parts are also removed in this process. Alternative mRNA splicing is a process which allows more than one mRNA to be made from a single gene. By using different combinations of the spliced axons (coding parts of mRNA) more proteins can be synthesized. This process allows for the biodiversity seen in the eukaryotes.
8. Anesthesiology:
Anesthesiology is a branch of medicine which deals with the perioperative care i.e. proving relief from pain to the patients before, during and after surgery. Doctors who specialize in this field are called anesthesiologists.
9. Analog:
In biology or medicine analog is a substance or drug that can be used in place of another substance or drug. In physics, analog relates to devices or mechanisms that present information in the form of a continuously variable physical quantities or relay continuous signals.
`10. Abiotic stress:
Abiotic stress refers to the collective negative impact that is posed upon an organism due to the non-living (abiotic) factors in a particular environment.
